After heavy showers put a dampener on Haslemere #SkateWaverley, forcing the event to be cancelled, young people are being invited to sign up for the rescheduled skate, BMX and scooter open day.
The free event, held from 10am-4pm on Tuesday 28 August and organised by Waverley Borough Council, offers a great opportunity for young people to be coached by pros, watch demonstrations and show off new tricks.
Councillor Jenny Else, Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, said: “It was so disappointing that the weather wasn’t on our side for the original event, but as our skate events are such a big hit with the borough’s young people we decided we had to reschedule.
“These sessions are a great way of trying out a new skill, using the skate parks and making new friends. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, as long as you are aged between seven and 16, you can drop in for a few hours or stay for the whole day, taking part or enjoying the stunts performed by the pros.”
No booking is required but all participants must complete a registration form either online at: www.waverley.gov.uk/skateparkevents or on the day.
