This year, Waverley Borough Council is encouraging residents and visitors to get involved in some of the great events happening across the borough as part of English Tourism Week.
English Tourism week runs from 17 to 25 March and is an opportunity to discover some of the highlights on your doorstep and the value tourism brings to the economy.
Some of the events on offer include a ghost walk in Haslemere, a trip back in time along Godalming High Street and a tour of one of the most famous filming locations in the borough; Dunsfold Aerodrome.
Councillor Jim Edwards, Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Community Development at Waverley Borough Council, said: “Waverley has a lot to offer and it is important that we celebrate the contribution that tourism makes to our local economy. We have so much going on all the time and we are taking this opportunity to shout out about it.
“I’ll be joining the ghost walk in Haslemere to hear some ghoulish tales. I know that other councillors will be taking the opportunity to get behind the scenes at Dunsfold, and take a lunch time stroll down Godalming High Street to find out about the history of our high street.
“If you have a couple of hours to spare why not celebrate with us or take a trip to one of the fantastic tourist attractions all across our beautiful borough.”
