Sport Relief is back and we are excited to invite Waverley’s residents to a family fun run at Broadwater Park, Farncombe, from 10am on 18 March.
This year, Sport Relief is setting the nation a unique and epic challenge to beat one billion steps a day, every day, from Saturday 17 until Friday 23 March. We want to do our bit to step up and get counting – but we need your help too.
This year’s event, organised by Waverley Borough Council and Places for People, offers a choice of 1km, 3km and 6km runs, optional fitness challenges, training sessions, music, face painting, raffle and photo booth to capture those sporting memories.
Councillor Jenny Else, Waverley Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing and Culture, said: “Our 2016 Sport Relief event raised a whopping £10,101.54, with 360 taking part. This year we hope to smash that and help Sport Relief raise money for vulnerable people in the UK and the world’s poorest countries.
“Join our step challenge by downloading the Sport Relief App and searching for Step up Waverley.
“Whatever moves you, do it for Sport Relief and help change lives.”
Online registration is now open at www.waverley.gov.uk/sportrelief, with limited spaces available. Entry is £5 each for adults and £2.50 each for children (under 16). All funds being raised will go to Sport Relief.
