Waverley in with a chance to bag extra cash

Waverley has already bagged at least £8,000 grant funding to put towards improvement works for Badshot Lea Pond after being shortlisted in the Tesco Bags of Help Initiative

The Bags of Help scheme offers support to community projects in hundreds of regions throughout Scotland, England and Wales.

For each region, the shortlisted projects will be awarded £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000 depending on how many votes are received.

The money raised from the 5p bag charge in Tesco stores is being used to pay for the projects. Now Waverley needs your votes to secure as much funding as possible by voting in the following local Tesco stores: Farnham Hale Tesco Express, Aldershot Tesco and the Ridgeway Road Tesco Express.

The money will be used for activities including removing silt and vegetation from half of the pond area, installing a new pond outlet sluice, carrying out coppicing works to the bankside willows, removing scrubs from the pond edge to improve the water quality.

The funding could also be used to pay for new information boards, family friendly benches around the pond and dipping platforms. ‚Äč
