The new Mayor of Waverley Borough Council, Councillor Penny Marriott, was elected to the civic and ceremonial role at the Annual Full Council Meeting on Tuesday 9 June.

She will hold the post until next year’s Annual Council meeting, chairing council meetings and acting as an ambassador for the council. She was nominated by Councillor John Ward and seconded by Councillor Paul Follows. Councillor John Robini was elected Deputy Mayor.

The Mayor has decided to make ‘young people’ the theme for her year and has chosen to support three charities that work with young people in the borough – the Sea Cadets, 40 Degreez and Home-Start Waverley.
