The event saw attendees commemorate and give thanks for the dedication and selflessness of the men and women of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force both past and present.

The ceremony was led by Waverley Borough Council’s Head of Housing Delivery and Communities and Lay Minister at King’s Church, Chessington, Andrew Smith. Mr Smith praised the courage and devotion to duty of the members of the armed forces, both historic and current and led a prayer for a swift end to conflict and the safe return of those currently serving to their loved ones.

The event was attended by the Mayor of Waverley, Councillor Mary Foryszewski and the Leader of Waverley Borough Council, Councillor John Ward. The flag was raised by Corporal Richard Frizzell, representing the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment.
