Four Green Flags fly high for Waverley parks

Four of Waverley’s parks have been presented with prestigious Green Flag Awards and recognised as some of the best green spaces in the country.

Broadwater Park in Farncombe, Farnham Park, Frensham Great Pond and Common and The Phillips Memorial Park in Godalming were all announced as Green Flag winners on Wednesday (20 July).

The award, now celebrating its 20th year, recognises and rewards the best parks and green spaces across the country. A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.

In order to win the coveted accolade, the parks –  which are all maintained by Waverley Borough Council’s Parks and Countryside Service, contractors and countryside volunteers – were inspected by judges who assessed the park’s safety, security, cleanliness, sustainability and maintenance.
