Who takes decisions?
There are 57 councillors on Waverley Borough Council, all elected by the residents of Waverley. The number from each political party on Committees is worked out by the total number of councillors elected from each political party.

Officers are paid employees of the Council. Officers attend committee meetings and offer professional advice to councillors before decisions are made. Elected councillors make the decisions. A Democratic Services Officer takes notes to record the decisions made at each meeting.
The Council's Constitution sets out the way in which the Council operates, how decisions are made and the procedures which are followed to ensure that they are efficient, transparent and accountable to citizens of Waverley.
