Types of tenancy

Introductory tenancies run for the first 12 months of occupation. They are effectively a trial period, before automatically becoming secure tenancies, unless:

  • proceedings have commenced to end the tenancy
  • we have extended the introductory tenancy by six months because terms and conditions of the tenancy have not been met.

Flexible tenancies have been phased out

All new tenancies issued from July 2022 are introductory to secure. If you think you are still a flexible tenant you are invited to convert your tenancy.

From September 2014 - June 2022, all new tenants were given flexible tenancies with the exception of older people moving into supported living accommodation.
