WTS retains Matrix Accreditation for quality guidance and training

Waverley Training Services is delighted to announce that it has been given a ‘Maintaining Award’ status for its Matrix accreditation, an industry award for providing information, advice and guidance to support residents into employment and skills training.

The Matrix Standard was awarded to WTS two years ago and although it runs for three years, it is assessed annually to ensure the standard is being maintained.

The accreditation involves an interview and review of any Areas for Development from the previous report. The assessors remarked on “The development of the Initial Assessment process with learners is resulting in drawing out the learners more and helping them to gain a better understanding of the programme, their responsibilities and learning requirements. This takes place before the programme starts, the impact being that learners who feel the programme is not appropriate for them look at other options. This has significantly improved the withdrawal rate.”

Located in Farnham, Surrey, Waverley Training Services, who also received a ‘Good (Grade 2)’ rating from Ofsted earlier this year, offers a range of work-based learning qualifications for all ages, helping employers to upskill their current workforce and educate new apprentices.

Subjects include accounts and finance, business administration, team leading, customer service and teaching assistance. These can be delivered within the workplace and remotely with an assigned tutor, 1-1 and group sessions.

The services extend across Surrey and the surrounding areas of Hampshire, Berkshire, and Sussex.

Councillor Liz Townsend, Waverley Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economic Development and WTS Chair of Governors, said:

“I am delighted that Waverley Training Services has been recognised yet again by the Department for Education as maintaining its delivery of high-quality information, advice and guidance (IAG) services that enable people to reach their full potential. This is down to the continued hard work and commitment of all staff members who go above and beyond to support their learners and their employers.”
