Waverley residents urged to redeem energy bill support vouchers

Waverley residents who have prepayment meters are being reminded to redeem energy bill support vouchers as an estimated £160 million in the UK are currently unclaimed.

The government has designated 31 May as ‘Claim Your Energy Voucher Day’ to encourage those with prepayment meters to redeem their vouchers and get the support to which they are entitled.

The vouchers allow eligible customers to access discounts of up to £400 on their energy costs, which direct debit customers will have automatically received this winter.

The scheme will remain open until 30 June and customers can redeem the vouchers at their local Post Office or PayPoint.

Cllr Kika Mirylees, Waverley Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing, Parks and Leisure, said: “I’d urge those residents who are eligible, to check whether they have vouchers they can redeem before the cut-off date.  We know many are struggling with energy bills so it is even more important that people claim the support that they are entitled to before the end of June.”
