People living in hard to heat homes and on lower incomes in Waverley are being invited to claim between £10,000 to £25,000 in grant funding made available to improve home energy efficiency; one of the simplest ways of saving energy and combatting rising energy prices.
More funding has been made available as part of the central government scheme which will provide grants to eligible residents to improve energy efficiency in their homes, cut heating costs and help the environment.
The grant project will be delivered and managed by Action Surrey on behalf of all Surrey local authorities and provides funding for energy efficiency measures such as wall, loft and underfloor insulation; low-carbon heating systems such as heat pumps and solar PV panels, to homeowners and private tenants (with a landlord contribution) who have low incomes and are living in a poorly insulated home. Specific help for those not connected to the gas network will be available with the grant being between £10,000 and £25,000.
Funding is available on a first-come, first-served basis to those living in a cold home and on a low income*. People who own their home will receive the works completely free of charge. Grants are available to tenants but are limited to £5,000 and landlords must contribute a minimum of one third of the cost of the works. Applications are invited now with installations to be completed by 31 March 2023. We would urge you to apply as soon as possible, to avoid disappointment.
Councillor Steve Williams, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, said: “The uncontrolled rise in energy prices hits the poorest in our community the hardest. If you are a resident struggling with your energy bills, this scheme can help you make your home much more energy efficient. I do urge lower-income households to take advantage of this opportunity to make their homes warmer, greener and cheaper to run.”
