Waverley resident? Check if you’re eligible for a free home energy survey

Waverley residents whose energy provider is UK Power Networks (UKPN) may be able to take advantage of a new free home energy survey.

Zero Carbon Guildford has teamed up with Energy Action Redhill & Reigate to deliver the surveys through the Leaky Homes Project funded via UKPN. If you are unsure of your energy provider, you can check whether you are eligible by using this Postcode Checker.

Using an infrared camera and standard questionnaire, trained Energy Champions can conduct home energy assessments, which typically take 30-45 mins, depending on the property. They will provide thermal imaging photos to show residents where major heat losses are occurring, alongside a report which will give recommendations on how residents could improve their energy efficiency, keep their homes cosy and potentially save on energy bills

To find out more, email leakyhomes@zerocarbonguildford.org with the subject heading 'Energy Survey' to book your visit or for more information visit Leaky Homes Project | Home Energy Assessments (zerocarbonguildford.org). The deadline is 31 March 2023.

Councillor Steve Williams, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, said: “With so much heat lost from our homes, particularly through walls, windows and lofts, I urge residents who are eligible, to apply. In these difficult times, with so many struggling and with the rise in energy prices, it has never been more important to reduce energy waste which will, in turn, offer huge savings on bills.”

Residents are also reminded that they may still be eligible for a Sustainable Warmth grant. If your household income is less than £31,000 pa (or £20,000 after rent/mortgage) then you might be eligible for up to £25,000 of retrofit measures which could mean your energy bills are a fraction of what you're paying now.

You can contact Action Surrey to find out if you’re eligible but funding is time limited, so people are urged to check soon.
