Waverley facilities rank high in the Premier League of Loos

The toilet facilities at two of Waverley Borough Council’s greenspaces have achieved Loo of the Year Award status again for the 7th year running whilst Waverley Borough Council was also placed 6th in the Premier League of toilets!

Broadwater Park, Farncombe and Frensham Great Pond and Common have been recognised as amongst the best in the UK and Ireland winning Platinum awards in the annual Loo of the Year Awards.  Waverley Borough Council was also placed 6th in the Premier League of toilets and won a national Eco award for Broadwater Park’s facilities.

The awards are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of 'away from home' toilet provision across the UK with Loo of the Year Awards inspectors making unannounced visits to thousands of toilets at sites across the UK, to judge them. All the toilets are graded silver, gold, platinum or diamond with unacceptable toilets not graded at all.

The toilets are judged against numerous criteria, including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

Councillor Kika Mirylees, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing, Parks and Leisure, said: “Being placed in the Premier League is hotly contended by Local Authorities and it demonstrates our Parks and Countryside team and our contractor’s commitment to maintaining our facilities to such a high standard, something our visitors quite rightfully expect.  We are particularly pleased to win an Eco award this year as this ties in with our environmental goals.”
