Waverley Borough Council’s waste contractors Biffa were the recipients of a special award this week to acknowledge local organisations who have gone above and beyond during the continuing Covid Crisis.
The Lieutenancy Certificate of Appreciation, signed by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey, was presented to Biffa by Deputy Lieutenant Timothy Wates.
The Mayor of Waverley, Councillor John Robini, who attended the presentation said: “We are so pleased that our fantastic bin crews, who have worked so hard during the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, have been recognised for their sterling work. I would like to extend our congratulations to them all.”
Councillor Steve Williams, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, said:
“We continue to work closely with Biffa to keep this essential service running and I’d like to thank the bin crews for doing such an amazing job in these really difficult circumstances. They, like many others, have experienced challenges due to the national HGV driver shortages, COVID-19 and the impact of Brexit, but have managed to keep all our services running. I’d also like to thank residents for their patience and their continued efforts in reducing or reusing waste and composting as this helps both our bin crews and the environment.”
The council would like to remind residents that if their bin has not been collected, to please leave it out the next day. Any waste collection disruptions are updated on the council’s website where residents can also check, and report missed bin collections.
