Renovations at Riverside Court now complete

Waverley Borough Council has now completed the creation of two new flats at Riverside Court in Farnham.

The project included the conversion of former staff accommodation and a disused communal bathroom into two new, large one-bedroom flats. The new flats are modern with accessibility at the heart of the design. They are suitable for wheelchairs, have modern layouts, kitchens, accessible bathrooms and have private outside garden spaces.

Both flats are being advertised to residents via Waverley Borough Council’s choice-based lettings system called Waverley Homechoice, supporting the council's aim to deliver quality, affordable housing for residents with accessibility needs.

The scheme was delivered by Fowler Building Contractors to the highest quality design specifications. Residents living within the other 29 flats at Riverside Court were kept notified throughout the duration of the works.

Waverley Borough Council Co-Portfolio Holder for Housing (Delivery), Councillor Janet Crowe, said:

“This is a comparatively small housing project, in relation to our other schemes, but will improve the health and wellbeing of the residents that move into these properties. In Fowler Building Contractors, we have a partner who shares our values of community and quality, and we are delighted with the two new flats”.

Riverside Court is close to Farnham town centre, off Mike Hawthorn Drive, backing onto the towpath walk with footpath links to Gostrey Meadow. It has 29 self-contained flats with lift access to first and second floors. Several flats have balconies including the two occupied flats above the area where the refurbishment has taken place. There is a large tenant’s lounge and attractive courtyard garden in the middle of the complex with corridor access to rooms and lifts either side.
