New FREE kerbside textile and small electrical service starts in Waverley

Waverley residents can now take advantage of a new FREE kerbside collection service for recycling their unwanted textiles and small electricals.

The new service, which starts on Monday 24 January 2022 and is pre-booked online or via telephone, allows residents to get rid of their unwanted or broken items in bags on the kerbside. Bags need to be tied at the top so that items stay dry and left out by 6am on the day of collection.

Councillor Steve Williams, Waverley Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, said:

“We are delighted to be able to bring this free service to residents which will allow them to recycle even more items from their homes and I do hope that residents will take advantage of it. 

“We already collect a wide range of material but as a council that has declared a climate emergency, we are keen to do all we can to help improve recycling rates, something that we know is also important to people across the borough.”

Items that are too big to fit in a standard size carrier bag can be taken to your local Community Recycling Centre. Items suitable for reuse, such as washing machines or freezers can be collected by the Furniture Helpline. Please be aware there is a charge for this service.
