Highway verge cutting, weed control and on street parking enforcement returns to Surrey County Council

From 1 April 2023, the cutting of highway verges, weed control and on-street parking enforcement will be managed county-wide by Surrey County Council.

Surrey County Council are taking these functions back to provide a consistent level of service and the ability to respond proactively to local green priorities.

Waverley Borough Council will continue to cut its own grass areas such as parks, housing and recreational spaces. In many places these areas will be adjacent to SCC highway verges, so there may be some areas with different levels of grass cutting. For further information, visit Surrey County Council’s grass cutting, verges and weeds webpage – surreycc.gov.uk/grasscutting

If you have a complaint or concern about maintenance of highway verges or weed control in your area, please do not contact Waverley Borough Council, you can email highways@surreycc.gov.uk or phone Surrey County Council on 0300 200 1003. You can also report it on Surrey County Council’s website at Surrey County Council - Tell us about a tree, hedge, grass or weed issue (surreycc.gov.uk)

On-Street Parking

From 1 April 2023, Surrey County Council will take over responsibility for the management of on-street parking and the enforcement of parking regulations in Surrey. Currently, this is being carried out by Guildford Borough Council on our behalf.

Car parking enforcement in the borough council car parks will still be carried out by Waverley Borough Council.
