Practical help is available to hard-hit businesses in Waverley looking to recover from the impact of COVID-19 by establishing a positive presence online.
Waverley Borough Council has teamed up with digital trainers Clockwork City to provide a free digital business skills training course to local businesses hardest hit by the series of lockdowns and government restrictions.
Councillor Liz Townsend, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Parks and Leisure, said: “We have secured a government grant to provide this course for free to businesses that currently have little or no online presence but who are ready to give the digital world a try and to commit to helping their business grow. Local business people often tell us that they lack the know-how to get started with the online world or are unsure how it can help their particular business. This course will tackle both of these common concerns.”
She continues: “On the course, which takes place over five separate two-hour sessions, you will learn about digital tools to make your business more visible to your market, to help you engage with clients and to increase your profitability. Our training partner, Clockwork City, are award winners in their field and will put you at ease as you learn how social media can add a new dimension to your marketing and improve your bottom line.”
The training course will take place weekly over Zoom, with the first session on Tuesday 15 June from 10am-12pm. The organisers are planning to hold the final session on 20 July in person with all participants at a local venue.
Cllr Townsend adds: “We have 15 places available. If your business has suffered over the last year, is not already fully established online and you are exploring how the digital world can help you to grow, this is the course for you. Please get in touch to book your place.”
Enquiries should be made to xav@clockworkcity.co.uk.
The digital business skills course is one of several online training opportunities provided by Waverley to local businesses, using a friendly and relaxed approach to build the capabilities and resilience of those local businesses that have suffered most due to the pandemic.
