Council facilities flushed with success!

We're on a roll! The toilet facilities at two of Waverley Borough Council’s greenspaces have achieved Loo of the Year Award status, once again.

Broadwater Park, Farncombe and Frensham Great Pond and Common have been recognised as amongst the best in the UK and Ireland, winning Platinum awards in the annual Loo of the Year Awards. Both facilities have received an award from 2017 and 2019 respectively.

The awards are aimed at highlighting and improving standards of 'away from home' toilet provision across the UK with Loo of the Year Awards inspectors making unannounced visits to thousands of toilets at sites across the UK, to judge them. All the toilets are graded silver, gold, platinum or diamond with unacceptable toilets not graded at all.

The toilets are judged against numerous criteria, including décor and maintenance, cleanliness, accessibility, hand washing and drying equipment and overall management.

Framed Awards certificates are presented to winners at the Annual Awards Event on the 18 January 2024 at the National Motorcycle Museum, Solihull.

Councillor Steve Williams, Waverley Borough Council's Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, said:

“We are delighted that our facilities have, once again, been recognised in this way. Clean, well-managed toilets are very important for those visiting our sites and I would like to say a big thank you to our contractors and staff  who do such a great job keeping them up to such a high standard.”
