Blooming Marvellous!

For the tenth year in a row, The Phillips Memorial Park in Godalming has been awarded a prestigious gold award in the Large Park category of South & SouthEast in Bloom.

Judges commented on the 11 acre park, which also holds a coveted Green Flag award:  “This green space is a beautiful park located along the river with historic value and town facilities nearby, it is well maintained and provides a rich facility for the community’s health and wellbeing together with the conservation of its biodiversity.”

South & South East in Bloom is part of Britain in Bloom and is the largest horticultural campaign in the region involving 100s of communities each year, with entries from villages, parishes, towns, cities, coastal towns, town & city centres, urban communities and Business Improvement Districts.

Councillor Steve Williams, Waverley Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sustainability, said:  “Once again, this wonderful park has been recognised and it is testament to the hard work that our parks and countryside team, volunteers and our contractor put in to keep our beautiful greenspaces flourishing.   Congratulations to them and a huge thank you for all that you do!”
