Blooming Marvellous!

For the ninth year in a row, The Phillips Memorial Park in Godalming has been awarded a prestigious gold award in the Large Park category of South & SouthEast in Bloom.

Judges commented on the 11 acre park, which also holds a coveted Green Flag award:  “the park provides a beautiful space with so many different elements, there really is a space for everyone. Its size and layout means you can enjoy smaller areas or explore for a longer walk".

They also added that it was clear to see the results of the volunteers’ work to maintain the planted areas and the Park Keeper’s work to keep the park spotlessly clean.

South & South East in Bloom is part of Britain in Bloom and is the largest horticultural campaign in the region involving 100s of communities each year, with entries from villages, parishes, towns, cities, coastal towns, town & city centres, urban communities and Business Improvement Districts.

Cllr Kika Mirylees, Waverley Borough Council Portfolio Holder for Health, Wellbeing, Parks and Leisure, said: “This is a wonderful achievement.  We are very thankful to our parks and countryside team and the volunteers who put in the hard work to ensure our beautiful greenspaces keep flourishing.   Congratulations to them and a huge thank you for all that you do!”
