Waverley pays tribute to Councillor Peter Isherwood

Waverley Borough Council is paying tribute to Councillor Peter Isherwood, who sadly passed away this week. As a mark of respect, the flag at the council’s office at The Burys will be flying at half-mast.

Councillor John Robini, the Mayor of Waverley, said: “Cllr Isherwood worked tirelessly on behalf of residents since being elected to represent Hindhead as a Waverley Borough Councillor and Haslemere Town Councillor in 1999.

“For over 22 years, he made a significant impact on Hindhead and the borough, leaving behind a legacy of exemplary service and achievement, having been a respected member of the Waverley’s Licensing and Regulatory Committee, Licensing Sub-Committee and Western Planning Committee.

“Outside of his service in local government, Cllr Isherwood was also deeply committed to his local community. He was a Governor at the Beacon Hill Primary School, a member of the Beacon Hill Focus Group and the Hindhead Playing Field Association as well as being a Trustee of the Ewart Bequest Trust and of the Shottermill Recreation Ground Trust.

“His loss will be keenly felt by the entire community and his family and friends will be in all out thoughts at this terribly sad time.”
